A New Weather IoT Sensor Developed with Omron to Observe Heavy Rain and Strong Winds Every Minute

SORATENA Pro is a compact weather IoT sensor that observes seven elements every minute: temperature, humidity, pressure, rainfall, wind direction, wind speed, and illuminance. It was developed by leveraging the strengths of both companies. Omron, excels in sensor development, and Weathernews boasts the best forecast accuracy in Japan using unconventional forecasting technology. Omron's advanced sensing technology enables the sensor to observe heavy rainfall and strong winds of 50 mm/h and 50 m/s, respectively, which increase the risk of disasters.

The small size and light weight make it easy to install and start observations simply by turning the power on. Observation data is saved to the cloud every minute, accumulating as a database of actual conditions immediately after installation. In addition, the system is linked to the "weathernews" weather app for enhanced convenience.

Soratena Pro can be used in various digital transformation business situations for weather visualization of IoT sensor data. It is already in use for crop growth management, safe drone operations, measures against strong winds and heat stroke at construction sites and facilities, preparation and decision-making for sports and other events, and safety measures at stores.
