The World’s Largest Private Weather Company Launches Global Weather App Featuring High-Resolution Forecasts Powered by AI

Weathernews Inc., one of the world's largest private weather information companies, has announced the global release of its “Weathernews” app that covers the entire world. The app is available for free download on the Apple App Store and Google Play. The increasing number of abnormal and extreme weather events around the world is rapidly driving up demand for accurate weather information. Leveraging its world-class expertise in weather and disaster prevention and AI-powered forecasting technology, WNI provides highly accurate weather forecasts that can be checked in real time anywhere in the world.

The main features of the Weathernews app are as follows:

・1 km Grid Weather Forecasts : View high-resolution weather forecasts anywhere in the world, broken down into a 1 km grid resolution.

・10-Minute Rain Radar : Track the rain cloud movement worldwide in high-resolution images updated every 10 minutes.

・5-Minute Weather Forecasts : Get weather forecasts up to an hour ahead in 5-minute intervals.

・Advisories and Warnings : Weather alerts from over 140 countries via the WMO and National Meteorological and Hydrological Services (NMHSs), covering 98% of the global population.

・AI Weather Explanations : AI agent answers users' weather-related questions in their local languages.

・Push Notifications : Receive alerts when rain clouds approach, when advisories or warnings are issued, or when an earthquake is detected.

In 2023, WNI established a dedicated team to collect observation and warning data from around the world. In addition to the weather data compiled by the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), the team has been communicating directly with NHMHs to establish a system for receiving data that has not been submitted to WMO or other UN agencies. WNI now receives weather data from more than 140 countries, with warning data covering 98% of the world's population. By combining this data with its proprietary forecasting technology, WNI has successfully developed high-resolution, high-resolution weather forecasts and rain cloud radar.
